Official Burli Newsroom Release 251e, December 2025

Burli Newsroom version 251e is available. To round out 2025 this update works around a Microsoft dark mode bug, improves diagnostic report uploads, enhances integration with Burli NewsHub, and includes numerous stability fixes. It’s a recommended upgrade for all customers.

What’s New in 251e?

Highlights include:

  • Black screen fix: Newsroom now works around a recent Microsoft bug that can cause a black background in some Burli windows when Dark Mode is active in Windows 11.
  • Amazon S3 Report Uploads: Diagnostic report uploads now use AWS S3 by default, replacing the legacy FTP for much-improved reliability and performance.
  • Enhanced Burli NewsHub Capture: Burli now captures directly from the NewsHub API instead of via RSS, with smarter 14-day history limits, better audio handling, NewsHub folder support, improved OAuth setup (now uses private browser windows to prevent credential caching), and clearer error messaging.
  • Improved In-Queue Management: Fixes issues where stories could appear under incorrect categories or filters when posted back to the in-queue.
  • Audio Handling Improvements: Resolves an issue where audio uploaded via the web server would include extra silence, and fixes the occasional and mysterious reappearance of audio files in the Local folder.
  • Expanded Unicode Support: Fixes a crash caused by special character combinations in TV-Mode scripts, and adds the above enhancements into the Unicode version.

Technical Improvements:

  • Fixed a crash in the multi-track editor when no audio devices are present
  • Resolved crash when adding ~artist= in dispatches to Wide Orbit
  • Fixed a crash when dragging audio from local folder into In-Queue
  • Improved send-by-email error handling
  • Enhanced logging for audio file management

About ‘Official’ Burli Releases

An official release is one that we recommend for production use in most newsrooms worldwide. We’re confident it will run with typical Burli stability in various newsrooms. More recent versions of Newsroom may already exist (we’re releasing or updating something almost weekly) and may already be used in some newsrooms. But most newsrooms are well served by using the latest official release.

We make an official release once updates have been running in various newsrooms. That usually happens a couple of times a year.

If you’d like to be one of the newsrooms that run newer releases and have all the latest toys, just let us know.
