Official Burli Newsroom Release 250j, August 2025

Burli Newsroom version 250j is available. This is our largest update since version 249f back in March, and it’s packed with stability improvements, including better web server reliability, enhanced RSS capture, and smoother remote site connections. It’s a recommended upgrade for any customer.

What’s New in 250j?

Highlights include:

  • Web Server In-Queue improvement: Resolves an issue that caused the In-queue to appear empty on some Burli Web Servers.
  • WordPress OAuth Integration: Enhances integration with WordPress instances using custom OAuth security configurations.
  • Burli NewsHub RSS Capture Support: Improved support for audio cuts in RSS feeds from Burli NewsHub.
  • Improved Remote Site Management: Prevents duplicate in-house filters appearing for some customers when connecting via VN. Also resolves intermittent client-side crashes when refreshing remote connections.
  • Expanded Unicode Support: Improves Chinese character handling in network folder names on Taiwanese Windows, plus merged enhancements from multiple development branches.
  • Enhanced Web Interface: Resolved story posting issues to aliased folders via the web interface and improved WebView2 integration with better cookie management and print functionality.
  • Extended SFTP Server Compatibility: Betters supports MP3 file rename operations on OpenSSH SFTP servers, resolving upload path issues.
  • Latest Security: Updated OpenSSL integration to remove deprecated ciphers from native HTTPS support.
  • Improved Audio Handling: Fixes post-edit previews that could, alarmingly, sound silent, and enhances audio file availability from online sources including ABC Newscall.
  • User Experience Improvements: Added clearer warnings when script edits can’t be saved to the server and restores chat window menu options that could appear greyed-out unexpectedly.

Technical Improvements:

  • Updated Microsoft WebView2 library
  • Improved capture thread synchronization
  • Better filtering logic for In-queue story management
  • Upgraded libcurl user-agent customization
  • Enhanced error logging and diagnostic capabilities

About ‘Official’ Burli Releases

An official release is one that we recommend for production use in most newsrooms worldwide. We’re confident it will run with typical Burli stability in various newsrooms. More recent versions of Newsroom may already exist (we’re releasing or updating something almost weekly) and may already be used in some newsrooms. But most newsrooms are well served by using the latest official release.

We make an official release once updates have been running in various newsrooms. That usually happens a couple of times a year.

If you’d like to be one of the newsrooms that run newer releases and have all the latest toys, just let us know.
