NW2 goes to air with Burli
February 01, 2001
Vancouver's brand new all-news station powered by Burli news editing software
VANCOUVER, CANADA - NW2, Vancouver's second all-news radio station, began broadcasting today. Driving its intense 24-hour operation is Burli's news editing software. Station reporters, editors and anchors use Burli to gather, write, edit and broadcast all their news copy and audio.
All-news radio is hugely demanding on its editorial software. In most newsrooms newscasts are written, then edited, then aired -- at NW2 it all happens simultaneously, 24-hours a day. Some editing software struggles in this environment -- Burli thrives in it.
The addition of NW2 makes Vancouver the first radio market in Canada -- and one of only a handful in North America -- to have two competing all-news radio stations. The existing all news operation, CKWX News1130, has announced plans to install Burli later this month.
About NW2
NW2 (CJNW AM730 - formerly CLKG) is operated by the CORUS Radio Network. NW2 shares many news resources with sister station CKNW, British Columbia's leading private news/talk radio station. CKNW has been using Burli for its news production for more than two years. NW2 began broadcasting at midnight, February 01, 2001.
